The corner back bar has been designed to fit across a corner or stand flat against a wall. The centre of the cabinet comprises of 2 cupboard with glass door seperated by 2 drawers. There is a single shelf in each cupboard. The sides which are angled forward at 45 degrees have 2 shelves and each shelf has a small brass rail aound the edge to hold bottles and glasses in place.In the bottom of each side section is a cupboard with a wooden door and a single interior shelf.The simple molded pediment is repeated across the cabinet, under the drawers and at the bottom of the cabinet. Mission furniture was first popularized by Joseph P. McHugh of New York who offered a line of stylistically related furniture. This corner cabinet, simple in its design has been decorated with a cyma molding on the pediment. The cabinet stands on a plynth above; an apron with splayed bracket feet. English 1850 During this period English furniture, in the domestic setting, was a symbol of status and wealth it was the decoration of the furniture that made furniture valuable. With turned baluster legs and square spreader bars the only decoration on this simple table which has been built to be sturdy and functional, is a recessed carving on both ends and on the front. The font panel opens down to create an enclosed storage space under the table top in place of an under the table shelf. The sides of the table fold down so that the table can be stored in a small space. There are 7 drawers in this front section which is defined by an arched support (a traditional Hepplewhite design feature) between the legs. The centre section has 7 drawers. On either side is a cupboard and above the cupboard has another drawer. The drawers are edged with a small cock bead. The back of the sideboard forms a ledge, shaped to match the sideboard top that overhangs the bow front.
